Driving Distance: 103.2 miles Time: 2 hours, 48 minutes

South on AR 5 you will run with the Blue Mountain ridgeline then up Freeze Mountain.  The next five miles are crooked and steep but full of fun.  You will level out and ride through small farms and mountain vistas.  You will come to a tee at Wolf Bayou.  Turn RIGHT, South on AR 5, 25.  This is about as level as it gets in the Ozarks.  You will cross the Greers Ferry Dam at Heber Springs.  This dam creates the lake you will circle today.  You can visit the William Carl Garner Visitor Center for more information on the lake.  Just past the Visitor Center turn RIGHT on AR 110 for the business district or straight for the bypass.  Whatever you need is probably in Heber Springs.  Neat places to eat and a beautiful court house at Christmas.  The bypass is under the "2" on the map.  At the top of the hill turn RIGHT, South on AR 25 "both lanes".  At the next, intersection go straight on AR 25 toward Quitman.  If you chose the business route just past the court house go straight on AR 110.  Turn LEFT, South on AR 107 South and climb up the mountain to AR 16 and join the bypass route..  Turn RIGHT, West on AR 16 toward Pearson.  You will ride mountain ridges and creek valleys all the way to Higden.  This is where you will ride over the narrows.  A narrow gorge of the Little Red River that is now full of water.  Can you see the lake through the bridge?  At Greers Ferry you can gas up, eat out, camp, fish, or get some groceries.  Stay on AR 110 North and cross over the lake the last time at Devils Fork toward Edgemont.  Leaving the lake you can "hit" some curves and open up your pipes a little.  The pace quickens as the curves open up and the straights are longer.  At Shirley turn RIGHT, North on AR 9.  Leaving Shirley is a 90° rollercoaster.  From here to Mountain View is one of the most serene rides in Stone County.  At Rushing you will turn RIGHT, North on AR 9.  Enjoy the wildflowers and country settings; this is a relaxed easy ride back to Mountain View.  When you get to Hilltop Grocery, slow down.  Loud pipes sound good.  Wow!  What a view; this is why they call it Mountain View.  There is a big parking lot, on the Right, just past the first curve but it is gravel.  The State has a gravel parking lot on the Left closer to the bottom.  Can you find your cabin, B&B, RV, or motel?  At night, see if you can find the MV made with street lights.  Drop your kickstand and lean back on your tour pack.  This is about as good as it gets.

ATTENTION:  There are pull offs on all roads in the Ozarks, however most are gravel.  Heavy rains also "wash" gravel onto highways.  Be careful on the curves.  Lots of folks let their dogs run free here in the hills and occasionally a cow or a horse.  Watch for the unexpected, especially our native White Tail deer.  They can't run on blacktop but they sure can jump.  Depending on the time of year you ride; you may see RV's, big trucks, road construction, hunters in orange, or someone sitting in the middle of the road taking a picture.  Share the road and don't be surprised if everyone you meet waves or "takes the middle out of your lane".  We joke about paying taxes on both sides of the road.  Every town has a good place to eat or as we call it "coffee".  Be sure to check for the pie in season and "today's special".  Enjoy your place in the Mountains.
